About WIVA
Letter from Our Principal
Dear Parent,
Imagine a high-quality public school that offers the innovative use of technology, a rigorous and award-winning curriculum from K12 Inc., individualized learning plans for each student, and accommodations to foster different learning styles. This school is not imaginary; it is the Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA). Founded in 2003, WIVA is a public charter school, authorized through the Northern Ozaukee School District and serving students throughout the state.
When you enroll in the Wisconsin Virtual Academy, you are enrolling in more than a school; you are joining an educational support system designed to give your child, in partnership with your family and a fully licensed State of Wisconsin teacher, the best education possible.
The education provided by the Wisconsin Virtual Academy enables your children to learn at their own pace, explore their interests, and achieve their academic potential. For students enrolled in WIVA, learning becomes a wonderful community and family experience. School outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting sites help create real connections within the WIVA community.
We feel we offer one of the best education choices in our state, and parents agree! In a survey completed in March 2005, 99 percent of currently enrolled families would recommend the Wisconsin Virtual Academy to their friends.
We are proud of the school's achievements and our outstanding parent, community, and faculty support system. WIVA students continue to excel in all areas of academic achievement. In the 2006 WKCE testing, 93 percent of our fourth graders scored proficient or advanced.
Not only are we proud of our school; we also believe that it's a profoundly good choice for families who want to help their children get the education they deserve. On behalf of our dedicated WIVA community, I look forward to receiving your enrollment forms during the February 2008 Open Enrollment window and welcoming you to the Wisconsin Virtual Academy's community!
Best regards,
Kurt Bergland
